Alcabes Schwartz

Elisa Alcabes Schwartz, a dual citizen of the United States and Spain, has a law degree from Columbia Law School and more than thirty years of experience practicing law at Simpson Thacher, an international law firm in New York.

She has developed her practice in complex litigation and arbitration, representing leading national and multinational companies and specializing in commercial insurance coverage, directors’ and employees’ insurance, bankruptcy and mass tort liability. In her long career she has advised private equity firms, financial institutions and listed companies in complex matters related to multi-million-dollar financial transactions. She is also co-editor of a three-volume legal treaties on insurance coverage litigation, widely used by lawyers and judges in the United States. Subsuquently, she founded Alcabes Law, PLLC, a personal law firm from which she advises on litigation, claims and transactional matters and collaborates with foreign lawyers studying the feasibility of legal actions in the United Stated. In 2021 she became certified to teach English as a second language and founded ESL for Lawyers, LLC, a coaching and consulting service for lawyers worldwide who speak English as a second language.

She joined Next Abogados in January 2023 as of counsel, to take charge of the representation of our clients in the United States and to advise in her areas of expertise such as insurance law, civil liability and advising companies, especially multinationals.
